v1.2 is here!

Learn Royale Team at 08-20-2020

We are excited to announce that Learn Royale v1.2 is here!

We launched Learn Royale last month with lots of great features. Now, we’re here to give you all that and more, so let’s get started!

1. A new look and feel

Learn Royale has been completely redesigned from the inside out, to look and perform with more cleanliness and simplicity.

From the dashboard to the new explore page, everything has a new look and feel. We understand that it may be difficult to navigate the site with the new update, in which case you can always refer to our support page!

2. The new editor

The new set editor makes it even easier to create and edit your question sets! When you first open the editor, you will be able to see and edit the set’s title information, including its title, cover image, and sharing settings, as shown below:

The new editor is more than just looks, though. It comes with lots of new features. For example, we have added a new sharing feature: link-sharing. Link-sharing is in-between public and private sharing; in link-sharing, the set can be viewed by anyone, but only if they have the link, meaning your set will not appear in search results. This can be helpful if you want to be subjective on who sees your set.

In addition, you can now add a category and a short description to your sets to help our search engine and users understand what they are looking for during a search.

Editing questions is made easy with the new editor as well. You can edit the question as well as the four answers, as shown below:

To create a new question, click on the + icon at the end of the question list (the list with the T and all the numbers). If you have a flashcard set, you can click the upload button to upload your flashcards to your new set. The system will automatically generate the wrong answers for you!

Did we mention you can add images to your questions now? Simply click on the image placeholder to open the image menu, and select an image from there to add it to your question.

Finally, you can delete your question by clicking the trash icon at the top right of the equation pane. And to top it off, the new editor automatically saves your work. No more clicking the “Save” button each time you want to update your set. Now, you can view the save status above the question list, where it will say “All changes saved” once it finishes saving.

3. The equation editor

Typing equations with your standard keyboard can be difficult, since many math symbols aren’t included on a keyboard, but this is made easy with the new equation editor! With the equation editor, you can add an equation to each of your set questions, which can be particularly helpful if you are making a mathematics set. To access it, click the equation icon (square root of pi) at the top right of the question pane. You will then see this screen,

where you can add a math-enabled equation just by typing! It makes it easy to add symbols for fractions and roots, and the best part is your equation is totally customizable, and it can be edited or removed completely. Once you add an equation, it will appear on your set’s page as well as in games.

4. Assignments

Playing live games can be difficult in some scenarios, especially in remote learning. Now, Learn Royale assignments make it possible to assign Learn Royale games as homework! Using our new assignment creator, you can edit the details for your assignment, including the set to be played, the number of questions a student must answer, and the due date/time for the assignment.

Once you click “Assign”, a six-digit game code will be generated for the assignment, just like during live games, except your game code will not expire until the due date, or until you manually end it. You can share the game code with your students or associates, and they will be able to join the game and complete the assignment. The assignment ends when they answer the number of questions you specified in the assignment creator, which can be from 2 to 100.

When a player completes your assignment, you will receive their game data, being the total amount of time it took for them to finish, the number of correctly answered questions they answered, and their overall average. This data formulates into a class average, which can then be exported as a .csv file or printed.

5. Dark mode

Learn Royale has a new Dark Mode! Turn on Dark Mode by going to settings, clicking “Personalization,” and toggling Dark Mode to on.

Dark Mode can be helpful if it’s evening and you are preparing a lesson plan for tomorrow, or just if you are on Learn Royale after sunset. Using Dark Mode helps ease your eyes and reduces strain, compared to looking at a bright white screen in the dark. See the difference below:

6. The new Explore page

Last but not least, you can now find sets with the Explore page (and no, it’s not just the Find page with a new name)! You can now view popular sets and topics from the Explore homepage, such as our collection of Top Picks, or Most Played sets. Searching for sets is also more efficient, as sets are now found by title and category, making it easier to find the sets you want!

That’s it for v1.2! If you have any questions or feedback, don’t hesitate to contact us at hello@learnroyale.com! Try Learn Royale v1.2 for free and change your classroom forever!
